Engineering a Farmhouse Retreat: The Frisella Commission
Share
The Discovery: From Instagram to Attica, Kansas
Even for high-performance leaders like Sal Frisella (1st Phorm), the search for true craftsmanship often leads to the Heartland. Sal discovered The Stockton Mill via our national Instagram showcase, looking for a solution that could transform a historic 1903 farmhouse into a high-capacity guest retreat without sacrificing the soul of the home.
The challenge was clear: create a massive sleep system that felt like it had been part of the architecture for over a century.
The Technical Execution: "Parallel-Under" Architecture
While many bunk systems feel like "furniture pushed against a wall," the Frisella Suite is a full-encasement architectural feature.
-
The Configuration: We engineered a 15-foot continuous hardwood span featuring a "Parallel-Under" design. Unlike standard perpendicular bunks that eat up floor space, the lower berths in this suite are tucked neatly beneath the upper twins.
-
The Stairs: A 24-inch wide-tread stairwell provides safe, all-age access to the top decks, with integrated dresser-style storage drawers built into every riser.
-
The Integration: We didn't stop at the beds. This commission included a custom-fitted seating nook at the landing and a complete overhaul of the retreat's closet system, ensuring every inch was optimized for a "cozy, cool, and comfy" experience.
"We had a guy we found on the old Instagram build us custom built-in bunk beds... it’s just cozy, it’s cool, it’s comfy, and it’s us." — Sal Frisella
The Master Builder Standard
At The Stockton Mill, there is no outsourcing. Every joint of the Frisella Suite was hand-selected and cut in my Attica, Kansas shop before being personally transported and installed on-site. This direct accountability ensures that the structural "bones" (heavy-duty dimensional lumber) and the visible "beauty" (premium solid hardwood face-frames) meet a standard that will endure for generations.
Secure Your 2026 Build Slot
Because of the technical intensity required for commissions of this scale, I only accept SIX (6) major builds per calendar year.
The "Frisella" configuration is now available as a baseline for your own estate or guest retreat. Whether you are looking for a heritage blue finish or a natural hardwood statement, we engineer the retreat to fit your specific floor plan.
